Ps Man,

Whilst there is some validity in your disagreement with the author, any Pc is the sum of its parts not just one component if you are looking for a balanced system.

However your statement:

"CPU speed does not have any wide effect on the overall performance, only when compressing video or files, and in some games".

Is entirely misconceived.

There are literally hundreds of business applications where CPU performance is critical to the performance of the software, applications are multi-threaded to take advantage of 16 core setup s (and more if possible) especially in the realms of Computer Aided Design, Digital Content Creations, Code generation, and Finite Element Analysis to name but a few.

If you are talking about the average user then your statement is more valid but it is incorrect to apply this sweeping statement to Business users unless you have assessed their requirements first.

I am glad that you got your water damage covered under your insurance policy. I had a similar issue and my water damage was not covered. Looks like I need to make a coverage switch!

I disagree with "CPU is the main component which determines the performance of your computer"

CPU speed does not have any wide effect on the overall performance, only when compressing video or files, and in some games.

I discussed that in details on angrybyte.com "before you buy a laptop"
